LONDON - Not only a human being can be infected with bacteria, cell phones could also. Are cell phones dangerous infected with this bacteria?
In the UK, approximately 1 of 6 phones have been contaminated by sewage sludge. The experts argue that one reason for harmful bacteria can be attached in many handheld devices because most people forget to wash your hands properly, ie using soap, after they go to the toilet.
Launched by BelfastTelegraph, Sunday (11/20/2011), this study conducted by scientists from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, together with Queen Mary, University of London.
Researchers found many phones that bacteria E coli (Eschericia coli). This is dangerous for humans, and when it enters the body will cause indigestion. While in more serious cases, these bacteria can cause food poisoning.
Dr Val Curtis of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine says, "This study provides more evidence that some people still do not wash their hands properly, especially after going to the toilet."
"I hope that awareness of the presence of E coli in hand and cell phones, can make them more vigilant in the bathroom. Washing hands with soap is just a simple action, but no doubt it could save lives," he added.
In developing countries, washing hands helps prevent the spread of infections caused by viruses, like norovirus, rotavirus, and influenza.
