SOSIAL NETWORK ABLE TO RAISE BRAIN

LONDON - People who use social networking services and have many friends in it, probably will have a large brain size, so says a new study.

As quoted by Reuters on Wednesday (19.10.2011), scientists have found a direct relationship between the number of friends on Facebook with size in some parts of the brain. This raises the possibility that using social networking sites could change the human brain.

Some areas of the brain function that is affected is the use of social networking, memory, emotional response and social interaction.

But scientists have not been able to confirm fully, whether by having lots of friends on social networks are able to make some parts of the brain dilate, or indeed a big-brained people are better social interaction skills.

"The interesting question here is how the structure of the brain is always changing," said Ryota Kanai from University College (UCL), one of the scientists involved in this study.

"This is what will help us in answering whether the Internet can change the human brain," he concluded.
